A senior Bush admnistration official has confirmed that US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will resign.
Mr. Gonzales's shifty testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee led many to believe that he had ordered the firings of competent federal judges to make way for judicial replacments who were loyal to President Bush.
Legal nit-picking aside, his incompetent and unprofessional manner before Congress shamed the Justice Department, the broader image of American Justice, and the American people as a whole.
His resignation is a long time coming.
It is a victory for the American public and all people around the world who value working democracy.
